Hot Yoga Instructors

Gayle Collins - Hot Yoga Instructor at Your Body CenterYBC Staff Member since 2011

In her 20’s and the 30’s, it was all about high intensity cardio and extreme weight work outs. While working in the corporate world by day, she taught aerobics, bench classes and various cross training classes by night.

Gayle Collins - Hot Yoga Instructor at Your Body Center in a poseInto her forties, teaching cycling and “spinning” classes became her passion but within that period, the desire for balance and flexibility, and an increasing awareness of the connection between mind, the body and the breath led Gayle to yoga.

With her physical focus, she found the same intensity of cycling with the heat and poses of hot yoga. In her 50’s, she feels she is in the best shape she has ever been and is still aiming for that next level. Gayle is a RYT 200 Yoga instructor and also helps train and mentor other new yoga instructors..

Gayle’s class is about helping you challenge yourself, always striving to take you to your physical and mental edge while appreciating and understanding your own body’s potential each day. Grab a bottle of water and join her!

Devon Fan - Hot Yoga Instructor at Your Body CenterYBC Staff Member since 2017

Devon took her first yoga class with Kay Westcott over ten years ago and has been practicing ever since. She began hot yoga at YBC in 2007 and was trained to teach by Donald Card, the originator of the Your Hot Body workout. Devon taught this routine during summers and extended vacation while attending the University of Texas at Austin.

In 2011 she became RYT 200 through training with Lex Gillan. Devon’s classes encourage awakening one’s instinct to create mental, physical, and spiritual wellness on and off the mat. Her yoga philosophy promotes listening to the body, remembering to breathe, and bringing only love to the mat, rather than ego.

She consistently attends various yoga workshops to stay in a constant state of renewal. When not in the hot room, Devon enjoys reading, running, and French cinema.

Shavaun has always enjoyed teaching and sharing her passion with others. Her training began early at the age of 6 in Tae Kwon Do. 10 years later she earned her black belt in the art and losing the title of Junior Instructor to Instructor at her parents’ dojo, Langley’s Tae Kwon Do. With her parents guidance Shavaun has trained and coached many world champions in the art.

In 2008, Shavaun began to look for other challenges that require the same mental discipline that would excite her and fulfill her in the way that Martial Arts did for so long.

Shavaun had been attending classes at Your Body Center for 2 years, but it wasn’t until she decided to invest in the teacher training did she feel fulfilled in her practice. Using her many years of martial arts instructor training, and her natural leadership qualities, Shavaun brings an energetic, fun, and fulfilling atmosphere to her practice.

She would like to personally thank Gayle Collins for introducing her and planting that seed to pursue teacher training and for her guidance as she honed her yoga craft. Studying under Aline Houston, she has adopted her quality of teaching with passion.

Shavaun truly enjoys her yoga practice and finds an inner joy and happiness. Come try her class and allow her to share this inner happiness with all!

Brittany Pires - Yoga Instructor at Your Body Center in a poseYBC Staff Member since 2017

Brittany offers students a safe space to feel empowered with their bodies and embrace their uniqueness, reassuring that where they are today is exactly where they need to be. Having earned her 200-RYT certification through Larry Thraen’s YTT program, Bodhin Yoga: The Yoga of You, she stays in line with this realm of thought, inviting students to create their own practice by moving and listening to their bodies with the intention of longevity and self-care.

Her teaching style focuses on a balance between strength and therapeutics, offering new and creative ways to incorporate props in every class. Her vinyasa classes are progressive and offer varied levels of challenge while applying yoga philosophy and themes to intentional movement. With training in Thai Massage and Acro therapeutics, she emphasizes the importance of a lunar practice as much as a solar one.

She hopes to impact students in a way that promotes healthy living in both mind and body through mindful movement and breath. Her goal is to help every student get a little closer to their “yoga high” and discover something new in their practice.
